We have designed and authored, co-designed and co-authored or produced and in some cases progammed the products listed below. Our sister company in the UK, Cambridge Digital, has designed the framework of All in English and All in Culture as well as much of the content. Learnscaper is directly responsible for the content and orientation of All in Culture. Learnscaper has authored all the video, animation and learning activitiesl in the other examples, including the complete Welcome to Business. The two pilot videos, just created (April 2009) will be developed into a series, with multiple characters, that aims at providing guidance in cross-cultural behavior and the use of English in international settings. In the context of All in Culture, we have planned a production for 35 dialogues illustrating a wide range of typical cross-cultural problem situations. This will be followed by another series dealing with managing intercultural teams. ![]() |

The essentials
Learnscaper is a young company based in France whose team members have a strong global reputation for pioneering the use of networked technology and multimedia for learning purposes. Everything we do is based around the principle of the dynamic learning cycle and the optimisation of resources within the emerging Web 2.0 and 3.0 cultures. In fact, everything we do is also based on the reality of culture and communication across cultural borders.
What do we mean by culture? Perception and behavior systems shared by groups of people: nations, language groups, enterprises (corporate culture), ethnic groups, professions, to say nothing of learning culture, the key feature of learning organizations. The configuration of the dynamic learning cycle in today's networked world looks like this: ![]() The technology makes it possible, but it's people who do the job. The system is organic, not mechanical and entirely based on real human behavior, spontaneous (informal) and prepared (formal). The dynamic created between people and resources, between the formal and the informal, the ephemeral and the permanent creates the flow of energy that makes organic growth possible. This pattern enables us to understand the ecology of learning which encourages a variety of roles and relationships as well as a wide range of actions, from talking to publishing, from consulting a search engine to leading a global team. ![]() Many different configurations of communication contribute to the cycle, including the very informal (e.g. chat around the water cooler) to formal learning events (seminars, conferences, etc.). But prominent among the more permanent means are communities of practice and learning communities who use existing resources, create new ones and more generally model and transmit vital and pertinent forms of knowledge and skills that help fulfill the goal of improved performance and collective as well as individual creativity. Creativity is an anagram of reactivity! And that is the key to success of businesses in a dynamic networked world. Notice that everyone has a role to play in this type of cyclical process. Durable growth is always a collective experience. If experts, coaches and trainers are represented as the sun, it's because their knowledge is a more concentrated form of energy whose input is vital, but it also means that their authority should be kept at a safe distance, to prevent scorching the earth and drying out the hydrogen cycle. And of course the churning cloud of personal communication can block out the sun, but the sun can't - and shouldn't - get in the way of the cloud. |
